Unusual Car Sighting: Figaro

Went to Costco to grab some stuff, came out and saw this car parked nearby. It is a Nissan Figaro, a very small retro convertible with an interesting retractable roof. There is a nice Wikipedia article on the Figaro here.

Wow! Michigan plates? I expected Canadian plates, I know you can legally import used Japanese cars there. I wonder how they got it into the US?

HI I am desparately trying to get my FIgaro into the USA. Per your post I know there are currently 2 registered here. Interesting the DOT has no record of either. Any help with getting my Figaro into the US would be useful. Thanks

Car auction is good for sourcing car but without knowing the complete info about the car one can't maximize this.Automobile Trade Shows are needed for complete auto suppliers.

The convertible top makes the car so appealing. I wonder how it would look like with a grill guard attached on it.

Cute car. Nice color too. The owner wouldn't want to stain the vehicle paint he better drive this with a fender flare . Look for a a fender with the same color

08-22-2008 I grabbed some pix of a Nissan Figaro in Lubbock, Texas. The owner got it from eBay in Florida. They were nice enough to let me take pix and if it hadn't been for their time constraints, I would have gotten a ride. I do have permission to post the pix of the car on my blog site.

I know someone who used to import cars from mexico and kit cars, the process at the time was iffy, but mostly worked out fine.

GA and SC has title companies that register cars lacking titles, it used to be done right over the phone.

I am not sure if the loophole still exists, but a google search of such companies should be simple enough.
