Wow. 7 Free Cars.

On tonight's Extreme Makeover--Home Edition, Ford donated an Escape Hybrid (these are in short supply) and 6 Focuses to the chosen family. How would you like to pay taxes on that prize?

Considering they no longer have a mortgage, it will be a lot easier. Taxes are still cheaper than the window stickers!

Maybe they should be nice enough to zero-percent financing on the tax. This is only for seven presumably needy people

I don't think they will have to pay taxes. The show focuses on needy families and wouldn't burden them with the taxes that they couldn't afford. Similarly, in past episodes, the show has mentioned that trust funds are set up to help defray maintenance and property taxes for the homes. Last night's episode saw a small ranch become a two-story, 6-bedroom home.

I'm not sure it is up to the producers or the family. The value of the house is probably treated like a lottery prize, meaning it would have to be declared as income.

If the producers offer to pay the taxes on the house and cars, the tax payment may also be income!
