I'm not kidding. They are serious.
Really! A whistling monster of a twister is bearing down on your house, and you are expected to remember to don your headgear?
I think a much more sensible (though expensive) approach would be to keep a safe room in the house, a hardened room in the interior of the house which is by design isolated from the rest of the house structurally. FEMA has a page on tornado safe rooms.

Oy!!
LOL! Great post - sounds about right for Toyota.
For those of us who can't afford a safe room in a house I don't know how much effect a helmet is really going to have on a Twister!

Yes! It is a proven fact done by research at medical school and university that wearing a helmet during a tornado event may save your life. During the outbreak of tornadoes 4/27/12, there were many head injuries, and some were fatal injuries. A helmet offers much protection. In a Tornado prone area, there are many things we rely on for protection because everybody cannot have a safe room/storm shelter. A helmet is one of them. So, please spread the word! thanks! :)
