Laforza Sighting

This morning, while driving to work, I saw a large SUV that I didn't recognize. It looked roughly like an over-inflated Range Rover, or 1.5x scale Dodge minivan. It was branded only with "Laforza", and judging be the styling, was from the late 80's or early 90's.

It turns out I saw one of these. The Laforza is an Italian military/government truck which was imported into the U.S. sans powertrain, and outfitted with Ford 5.0L V8 kits. The Laforza combined a heavy, square body with luxurious (for the time) Italian leather interior. Originally quite expensive, they can now be had used (if you can find one) for around $10k.

I remember those, I've never seen one in person, and always wondered who would pay that kind of money for it.

It looks like an Isuzu Trooper.

Hi I'm from Italy. This car was born in 1984, it was the first Luxury SUV, but it was too early for the European market and in 1990 it disappeared. If you look for more information try to find Magnum Fissore, or Rayton Magnum, because these are some of the names the industry took during its life, and the last one is Laforza International S.p.A.

Your "these" link goes to a Dell support page. Now the Laforza was crap, but it was not nearly as crap as Dell.

The first Luxury SUV? I think the Range Rover managed it some 13 years ahead of the Laforza.

Are these guys still going? Can't find a website...

jmhm2003, How do you know it was crap?

Did you own one?
Or you are just selling copycat like Isuzu trooper and Rovers?

He he he...

Go to your bicycle and pedal… pedal, please....

For Big Ford Fan.
$37000 in 91 was about the same amount of money for a crappy Range Rover. I do not take in consideration any other Ford also in their best editions, because if you compared today with a Laforza they look like s...t! At list this one since was made by a small company that surly did not have any money for low sue like the big corporations) made a good sample to be copied by almost any SUV maker of today, 22 years later!!
I understand also that surly it is not a vehicle for a flock of sheep that normally buy what they ( Corporations like GM, FORD, Mercedes, etc….) make you believe you have to buy.
Obtuse comments like that make me think that most people are just boring and with out imagination or passion. Cars like this one,or Iso Rivolta, Bizzarini, Detomaso, Isotta Fraschini, Maserati, TVR, Noble, Pagani, Edonis etc… should bring excitement and passion for cars lover, not frustrated comments like above that only show the arid and infertile mentality of their authors.
