A solution is there, but seems cannot be seen: Magna buys Opel, and Saturn, and would have a sales outlet for North America, and Europe; since present Saturns are so integral to Opel technology and parts, why not? And then, they can go ahead and compete head-on with GM, and could concievably be successful away from GM iodiocy for once.
I just hope Saturn would not be dead. If they come up with better cars with good designs, I believe that they would survive the auto industry in the coming years.
Considering that the bulk of the Saturn line was based on Opel (Astra = Astra, Aura = Vectra, Vue = Antara, Sky = GT) the Outlook was never a true Saturn in my opinion GM should have bundled the Saturn brand with Opel/Vauxhall - then it could stay alive - What GM should have done was shift all SUV and Trucks to the GM brand, pared down Cadillac (who can afford 'em anyway), make Chevrolet the compact/mid sized brand, Buick (and to some extent Cadillac) the full sized brand. Maybe we can see some Opel presence in the US again after all this mess is cleared up.
